Range
Rules
THERE
IS NO RANGE SAFETY OFFICER ON DUTY INSIDE THE RANGE! All Shooters are
expected to know, adhere to, and help enforce range rules. If you observe
a violation of the range rules, please bring it to the attention of
any staff member and we will take corrective action. It is our goal
to have a completely safe range for you to enjoy every visit.
- Eye and ear
protection must be worn at all times while on the range.
- Always keep
firearms unloaded and keep your fingers off the trigge until you
are on the firing line ready to shoot.
- Do not lay a firearm
down on the bench unless all actions are open and ejection ports are
visible. If you have a jammed or malfunctioning firearm, only then
may you lay the gun down on the bench with the barrel pointed downrange.
Then, ask range personnel for assistance.
- Use only the correct
ammunition for your firearm.
- Do not hand
a loaded firearm to another person.
- Be sure you firearm
is safe to operate and know how to use it safely.
- Commands issued
by the range staff must be followed immediately. When the command CEASE
FIRE is given, STOP SHOOTING IMMEDIATELY and remove
your finger from the trigger. Keep the gun pointed down range
and wait for further instructions form range personnel.
- When finished firing,
unload and case your gun before leaving the firing lane.
- Tracer, armor
piercing, steel (case or projectile), military surplus, and unjacketed
ammunition are not allowed on the range.
- Safety Chamber
Flags must be used in all firearms that are not on the firing line or
are not cased.
- All shooters under
the age of 21 (for handguns) and 18 (for long guns), must be accompanied
by a parent/guardian at all times on the range.
- No one under or
suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be allowed
on the range.
- Three people maximum
are allowed per lane - with only two allowed in the range at a time.
- No one is permitted
forward of the firing line at any time FOR ANY REASON.
- Cleaning of firearms
is prohibited on the range.
- Pick up only your
brass that is BEHIND the firing line. Never extend any part of
your body beyond the firing line to retrieve brass. Do not disturb other
shooters while picking up your brass, or pick up brass from another
shooting point even if the brass belongs to you.
- Only regulation
paper targets may be used on the range. Non-paper targets must
be purchased from the range. We refuse the right to prohibit targets
we deem offensive. Home-made targets are not allowed on the range.
- Use the appropriate
size target placed at eye level to ensure that your shot strikes the
backstop and not the floor, ceiling, or target carrier.
- Rifle/Shotgun
shooter must use a large silhouette target to avoid damage to the
carriers. Smaller targets may be pasted to the silhouette.
- Shooting at
anything other than your own target is prohibited and will subject
you to removal from the range.
- Always wash your
face and hands immediately after shooting your firearm. Sinks
are located in the restrooms for your use.
- Firing a shot that
results in damage to any range equipment may result in a repair fine
and/or removal from the range.
- Pregnant women,
food, tobacco, and beverages are not allowed on the range due to
possible exposure to lead.
- There is no drawing
from holsters without approval from the Range Safety Officer.
- Report all violations of range rules to any range personnel.
- Dry firing is only
permitted at the firing line.
- Do not handle a
firearm or stand at the firing line when others are down range.
- Machine guns are
permitted on the range with written approval from the Range Safety Officer.
